When mamma-to-be Morgan Wessel, told her her best friend and graphic designer Kim Keller she was having a baby girl, Kim immediately started designing a shower invitation. Kim knew she wanted the shower colors to be bright and cheerful and incorporate Morgan's favorite color, orange. From the invitation the rest of the party started to take shape. Kim and fellow party host Stephanie Ritchie, came up with other party details and decided to avoid a lot of the "typical baby shower items" like a diaper cake and games. Instead, the morning would be more about celebrating Morgan and her baby girl, on the way, Olivia Clair, in a fun and colorful way and of course there would be hints of glam mixed in, just like the fashionable momma-to-be (who is a market manager for a large national shoe chain).

The event took place on a beautiful early August morning at Stephanie's Moorseville, North Carolina home. As guests entered they were greeted with a guest book to sign, "Olivia and the Fairy Princess" and encouraged to write notes to baby Olivia. Guests then proceeded to sip on Mimosas (or Momosas--- orange juice and sparkling cider---for the several pregnant women at the shower) and watermelon infused water. The drink glasses were edged in pink and orange sprinkling sugars and accompanied by a gold and white paper straw to add a festive touch. The food, which was prepared by Stephanie, included several of Morgan's favorite brunch items like Ham Delights and caprese frittats. For dessert, coca-cola cupcakes with peanut butter frosting, topped them with custom monogrammed toppers were set up for guests to grab at their leisure.

During the shower a headband making station was set up and guests were able to make unique headbands for the baby girl. Guests, who included friends from High School and College, had a great time picking out the band, flower and any embellishments they wanted to add. Even the un-craftiest of the ladies had fun making headbands (which they just had to hot glue together). Tags were also provided so that Morgan knew who made each headband.

As Morgan opened opened gifts, a stack of envelopes with thank you notes that matched the invitation inside each one, were passed out so that guests could write their address on the front of each envelope. This simple idea was one of Morgan's favorite things and made getting thank you notes out after the shower so much easier.

Once all the mimosas were drank, cupcakes devoured and gifts opened, guests were given a party favor bottle of Coca-Cola classic that had a custom wrapper that said "Morgan is ready to Pop" with a paper straw attached. Regular coke has always been Morgan's non-alchoholic drink of choice so it was a fitting a favor and perfect send off for a day all about Morgan and her baby girl on the way.

Real Baby Shower: Pink and Paris

Monday, June 30, 2014

Jaye Kogut Photography was not only the photographer, but also the amazing event planner for this fabulous Parisian themed shower. C'est Magnifique! Hosted at New Jersey's Cafe Paris, the perfect setting for a french themed soirĂ©e, this baby shower had the most stunning dessert table -- a mixture of parisian accents with pink, red and white goodies. And... If that wasn't enough... Jaye has also shared the OH SO CUTE baby photos here. Yeah!

From Jessica... The inspiration came from Bernadette. She visited France a few years ago and fell in love with the culture, the food and the atmosphere. When her family found out she was pregnant, her best friend and sister threw her the best shower a girl can get - Parisian themed! Everything was DIY at this shower. The cupcakes AND cupcake stand were hand made - the candy buffet was garnished with all feminine/girly colors; red, pinks and whites. French Macaroons were even shipped in from France! The bouquets were handmade by the hostesses and adorned with black glittery bows that the soon-to-be grandma helped create! The paris and travel themed books were from Michaels along with the Eiffel tower wish card stand (which was actually a jewelry stand -how clever!) The wish cards were made in lieu of a guest book and let the guests finish sayings like "I hope you love.....I hope you learn...". The mom to be was ecstatic and completely surprised by this shower. It took place at a beautiful small FRENCH cafe in the heart of Metuchen, New Jersey, with real fresh, French cuisine. The pink 'french' Essie nail polish and nail file favors were adorable and of course, no baby shower is complete without cute baby outfits and gifts to open!
