Real Baby Shower: San Francisco Backyard Shower

Wednesday, August 10, 2011

This mommie-to-be has some wonderful friends! Since she was on bed rest with twins, they brought the baby shower to her. How wonderful! Love the intimate setting with these hanging pom poms and such a gorgeous table setting -- including the hand painted and apple name cards, small bunches of beautiful flowers, and embroidered napkins. Not only did they provide this lovely luncheon, but they also hired Elle Photography to capture this shower PLUS a mini maternity session. Head on over to Bump Smitten's Facebook page to see these sweet photos.

From Laura... This adorable backyard shower was thrown for Lisa and Aaron Cohen by their closest friends. In true San Francisco style, it was completely non-traditional in size and scope. Lisa was on bed rest for the majority of her pregnancy and was unable to have the kind of big shower she'd thrown for numerous friends. To surprise her at the very end of her pregnancy when she was able to walk around a little bit, and cheer her up, her best couple friends put together a small, intimate lunch in their San Francisco backyard for the couple. They hired Elle Photography to surprise her with a "mini maternity session" at the shower. Lisa couldn't be on her feet for long, but she managed to pose for a few shots in the backyard and in front of the house, on the streets of San Francisco, for some memorable moments with Aaron. Afterward, the group dined on pickled grapes on crostini (a nod to pregnancy cravings), radishes, and roasted chicken underneath a ton of darling DIY decorations (the name tags were hand watercolored). The afternoon was so intimate and lovely that we thought we'd share the idea for those who aren't able to have a more traditional shower but still want to celebrate the happy moments in their life. Shortly after these shots were taken, Lisa and Aaron had adorable twin baby girls.
