Real Baby Shower: Lavender Butterflies

Monday, August 8, 2011

I'm starting off the week with this refreshingly simple yet elegant baby shower designed by Jane Chong of {jane}: an event design & coordination co.  I absolutely L.O.V.E. her style, including the ever so popular striped straws and pom poms, a beautifully framed chalkboard menu and the adorable banners made out of kraft paper. Sako of Sky Blue Seed did a fabulous job capturing all the little party details as well as the gorgeous mommie-to-be!

From Jane... Liza and I met back when we were freshmen in college and we've been friends ever since! I had the lovely honor of being one of her bridesmaids five years ago and now she is awaiting her second daughter! She is one of the funniest girls I know and an amazingly loving mom to her first daughter Audrey.

Inspired by butterfly decals from Pottery Barn for Lily's room, I chose a color palette of white on kraft paper with hints of lavender (one of her favorite colors). As hosts, we also knew we wanted the guests and mommy of honor to be able to enjoy this memorable event without having to worry about taking photos so I asked my friend Sako of Sky Blue Seed to come be our guest photographer for the day.

The decor was also simple yet sweet, focusing on a butterfly theme that was featured from the Welcome banner to the guestbook sign-in to the Wishes for Lily station where guests could write their hopes for Lily as she grows older. We also created a photobooth station where I made a banner with Lily's name and fabric butterflies from Pottery Barn Kids.

At the end of the day, we just wanted to create an intimate, casual atmosphere with good food and good friends where Liza could relax and enjoy the day!
