Real Baby Shower: Italian Theme

Wednesday, August 31, 2011

The guest-of-honor, Allison, was treated to a day of Italian pasta, cheeses and yummy gelato with this fabulous Italian-themed baby shower. Emily of Emily Faulknor Photographers, also one of Allison's friends, decorated with lots of red and white gingham, wine bottles and gorgeous sunflowers. There was lots of crafting -- as well as fun and laughter -- amongst the girls with this activity-filled shower.

From Emily... Allison is having a girl! We were very excited to throw her a shower as she has thrown us each amazing showers it the past. Allison studied abroad in Italy and she fell in love with the country so we thought it would be a great idea to celebrate her daughter, Whitney, in a very Italian way. You can't have an Italian party without pasta and cheese, so of course there was an abundance of both edible pastas and ones just for decoration. Allison's favorite dessert is anything that is gummy, so as a party favor we had cleaned out several baby food jars and decorated the tops with red and white gingham. There were several different kinds of jelly's to choose from and everyone could make their own to take home with them. It was a huge hit. To keep the Italian theme we had Italian sodas to drink, sunflower arrangements as centerpieces and red and white checkered table clothes to create that old Italian cafe feel. We also had little signs that had both English and the Italian translation on them. A huge hit amongst the ladies was the crafting table where everyone made one hair piece for Allison to use in Whitney's hair. The creativity was flowing and so much fun to see what everyone came up with! To top off the Italian theme we served Gillato. It was such a fun afternoon and Allison felt so celebrated and full of love from all the thought that was put into this shower for her. That is what we like to hear. Goal accomplished.
