Real Baby Shower: Oh Baby

Not only did Amanda from Oh My Little Dears get inspiration from Bump Smitten, but I'm completely inspired from her baby shower too. Love the paper wrapped floral containers (inspiration here) as well as the floral name tags. Adorable! Such a fresh mix of colors and patterns in all the decorations. I'll have to also note that Amanda has some CRAZY cute headbands, clips, burp clothes, onesies and t-shirts in her My Little Dears Shop. Definitely worth checking out.











From Amanda... This Sunday, I was honored to host a baby shower for my dear friend Ameigh. We have been friends since 6th grade, and we are so excited for this new chapter in her life. So, as friends do, we hosted one big bash. We had just over 35 people attend, the shower was a semi formal sit down lunch, with lots of talking and laughing.

To start the party planning, I got inspired to use the classic bunting banners. Although they are so popular, and maybe un-unique, it seemed perfect as Ameigh does not know the gender of the baby. And who can say no to such pretty pastel colors. I designed all the invitations, and spent the afternoon at Mara Mi in Stillwater enjoyed a cupcake and put together all the invites. If you have not been to Mara Mi, it is a great place for inspiration. Look above, am I really that short!! I can't wait to share the rest of the shower in the upcoming days!!

We were so lucky to be able to use the beautiful Historic Thomson Dougherty building for our baby shower. It was a beautiful wide open space, that had plenty of space for all the guests. In the main seating room, we set out a long table that seated 40 people. For the main center pieces, I used old cans and food containers and covered them with decorative paper. I planted plants in the containers, each guest was able to choose a plant bring home. I loved the different sizes of the cans. I also used canning jars for fresh flowers and was a bad neighbor and STOLE .. (I am admitting it) some white flower branches off their bush. (I don't feel so guilty because they never take care of their lawn anyway)

With such a large guest list, I wanted to have name tags to create a more friendly atmosphere. I was inspired to use felt flowers, to continue the flower theme from the table. I used wool felt found at Treadle in St. Paul. Each flower had six circles created into one big flower. (Stay tuned for a tutorial) On the back of the flower, I attached a white piece of paper creating a place to write their name. After the shower was over, the paper was ripped off, and the guests took home a flower broach. I enjoyed seeing what colors people picked.

Have I told you how addicted I am to chalk board paint!! This stuff is amazing. Just one coat, and grab your chalk, your ready to create. At Joann I found these wood plaques, and used them for signage at the tables. I love the fact that they will be reusable for other events.

One last post of this past weekends baby shower!! Don't you just love those beverage containers. They are a great investment, and can be used at any kind of party. Do you remember your mom reading the book " I'll love you forever"? It is such a sweet book. I bought that frame at the goodwill for $5 !! A few coats of paint, and it has been turned into a chalk board frame. I will have to post it's new home next week. I am so glad the shower went well and is done. It was a lot of fun seeing so many people come support Ameigh and Pat. I can't wait to meet baby Cameron in June!!
