Real Baby Shower: Baby Sam

Friday, June 3, 2011

I'm so excited to share with you this ADORABLE hand-crafted shower on this Friday morning. Submitted by the extremely talented Leslie of Leslie Kerrigan Photography (who was not only the photographer but also helped plan the event), this baby shower is 100% precious. And... what a nice treat to know the baby's name and also incorporate it into the design. Such an easy theme! Loving all the bright colors and tiny details that Leslie used to make this special occasion truly unforgettable.

From Leslie... My client is also my sister-in-law! And I was thrilled to be able to not only photograph this special event, but also help plan the event!! I started out with an inspiration board and an invitation. I knew my sister-in-law loved fun, bright colors and I planned the shower based on that.

I wanted every detail to be special and I wanted the baby's name to be front and center. So I purchased wooden letters from Hobby Lobby and spray painted them to match the color scheme. I made straw tags that had the baby's name and due date on them. I even put Sam on the labels on the water bottles!

In addition to these things, I made a no-sew fabric pennant banner. It was my first attempt at making something like this and I was worried. But it turned out great and hung nicely on the mantle. Another special touch was the "mad lib" style advice card that guests filled out. Courtney will have these cards to refer to when she needs a little parental advice.

The shower was so much fun and I am so happy I was able to capture it on film. Courtney couldn't wait to show the baby's father, Scott, all the little details!

That same day we did a maternity shoot for Courtney and Scott. I incorporated a toy airplane that I painted pink into some of the photos. Scott is a pilot so this was a special way to include his passion! The pictures were taken at a lake across the street from the airport where Scott works. This location was also the location of the couple's rehearsal dinner when they got married! So it holds a special place in their hearts.
