DIY Tutorial: Rainbow Flower Arrangement

Thursday, May 5, 2011

Today, I am going to treat you to two DIY tutorials from the insanely creative duo of Sara and Brittany from One Charming Party! They have so many tutorials, printables and party plans -- I wasn't sure which one to pick. After searching their site for an extended period of time, I finally decided on two projects from their fun art gallery party. I thought the rainbow theme would be perfect for the unisex baby shower and absolutely L-O-V-E the bright colors! Enjoy this great floral arrangement tutorial and I'll see you in a little bit for the fabulous matching cake. Yeah!

From Brittany... Ever wonder how to arrange flowers? I am in love with this flower arrangement.
If you would like to re-create this bouquet that we used for the Art Party yourself, here are the easy
steps to follow.

serrated floral knife
pruners/garden clippers
20-24 gauge floral wire
paper scissors
6 inch square glass vases
Flowers: pink gerbera daisies, dark pink roses, red pixie carnations, orange tulips, yellow ranunculus, yellow mums, kermit poms, bear grass, blue hydrangeas, purple liatris

Instructions / Tips from Megan:
1. Keep the flowers in cold water until you are ready to use them.
2. Strip the stems of excess foliage.
3. Secure smaller bundles of flowers with a rubber band or floral wire.
4. Trim the ends at an angle. (You can tweak the flowers as you go until you get the right look)
7. Arrange in rainbow order in the vases

These are BEAUTIFUL... and the photos! WOW! I loved this idea for so much more than just a baby shower (although they would look amazing at one). I'm linking to this post on my Friday Finds feature as a great last minute idea for a memorable Mother's Day!
