From Andrea... I was absolutely honored to throw a baby shower for my best friend Becca and her little boy. It was an experience that filled me with joy, knowing that all the time and effort I put in would show her just how truly loved she is. Becca and I met the night before our very first class at Westmont College in Santa Barbara and have been best friends ever since. When she told me she was going to have a baby I laughed, cried and immediately jumped on to marthastewart.com to get ideas for the shower! Never having thrown one before, I relied mainly on her theme for baby e's nursery for ideas, which was "vintage-y jungle safari" with tangerine and aqua colors.
I quickly learned that jungle animals were easy enough to find, but making them "vintage" was the tricky part. I decided the best plan of action was to program a list of craigslist yard sales into my GPS and spend a saturday tracking down antique looking jungle decor. I also scored jungle animal piggy banks from Home Goods, paper lanterns from World Market, paper mache letters and an elephant stamp from Paper Source and I made the pennants using scrapbook paper, ribbons and brads from Michael's.

We were lucky enough to be able to host the shower at the home of Becca's mother-in-law, which she graciously offered to us. The views of the ocean from the sunny backyard really made the day so special. I had two lovely friends help me with the food (a mix of Trader Joe's favorites and Costco goodies!) and cupcakes (fantastically done by Whodidly in Montecito).
I wanted to keep it simple with three games. I chose prizes from anthropologie, because Becca and I are obsessed! The first game was name the celebrity baby (Leo Dicaprio stumped everyone!) The second game was trivia about Becca as a baby, which I had gotten from her mom before the shower (favorite fact: her first pet was a goldfish named "first grade") and the third game involved unwrapping a layer of paper on the prize and answering the question written there. It was a great way for guests to share their experience and offer the mom-to-be some sound advice!
At the end of the day Becca expressed her gratitude and said how loved she and the baby felt. It was so wonderful to hear, because really, that's what it was all about!

I was fortunate to be a guest at this shower and it was truly beautiful and unique. It was intimate which made it extra special. It was the perfect day celebrating a most special occasion.
The shower was so beautiful-- the perfect way to get ready for the baby. I am a lucky lady to have so much love in my life (not to mention super talented friends!!).
