Real Baby Shower: Carrie Rowe {Woodland Theme}

Thursday, April 7, 2011

Talk about super creative... this woodland themed baby shower has a crazy amount of DIY ideas. So many ideas, I don't even know where to begin. Carrie Rowe from C Stands for Carrie definitely got her craft on and hopefully recruited friends and family to help. The handmade tree crafted out of paper bags, tree stumps doubling as cupcake stands and paper cones holding popcorn are among my favorite projects fabulously photographed by Elisha Guido. And... don't miss the porcupine cupcakes and owl s'mores. Adorable! Plus, stay tuned for Carrie's second super creative baby shower later today.

From Carrie... Last week some friends and I threw a baby shower and It has to be my favorite party I've thrown! It was for our friend named Jenn who is due December 6th with her first child, Fawkes (pronounced fox). Obviously a "woodland" theme was in order! I had been searching and searching for cool elements for this shower to make it cute, but not too cheesy. My inspiration came from the fabric from Joann's you'll see in the picture of the mugs and Fawkes Food (a mix of munchies that Jenn/Fawkes had been enjoying during the pregnancy. This mix was also our party favor) AND the scrapbook paper we used to make a tree in the living room (it was made from grocery bags and the scrapbook paper). One of my goals for this party was NOT to have paper bowls (we served soup and salad) which I think is so funny. Days before the party I was still searching and trying to convince myself to get over it. Two days before the party I went to the Salvation Army and found the PERFECT mugs to serve soup in! Some of my other favorite touches were the real branches I cut from the hostesses front yard (Ha!) and the georgous tree stumps from a friend that I used as cupcake stands (porcupine and s'more cupcakes). These items combined with yummy food, personal touches, a few games and friends made for a WONDERFUL evening.

People said it's hands down the best baby shower they've been to. Sigh.
