Whoopie Pies -- don't they just bring you back to your youth? Just saying the name and suddenly I'm seven again, sitting in the kitchen I grew up in with my best friend Colleen, munching on some homemade whoopie pies with a nice tall glass of milk. Laughing about how so-and-so went to the kissing rock twice that week! I haven't had one of those pies in years. So, when Elizabeth and I saw Jillian's fall whoopie pie dessert spread that was featured on 100 Layer Cake I knew we had to take a trip down nostalgia lane. We biked down to the local grocery store, put on our aprons, and got to baking! (Turns out Elizabeth's kids love a good pumpkin whoopie pie with maple cream cheese frosting too)! After devouring way-too-many of these confectionary treats we started to think that these pies would make an incredible sweet for a fall baby shower -- maybe as part of a dessert table (like Scott photographed below) or as a baby shower favor? We just know that if your guests are anything like us -- these pies will be a big hit!
Now that your completely smitten with these little sugar bombs, we'll let you in on where we grabbed the secret recipe. (We used the pumpkin whoopie pie recipe with maple cream cheese frosting from the oh-so-talented Jenna of Eat, Drink, Pretty -- and, if you haven't been to her site yet, you should visit it)!
