Baby Shower Idea: Utterly Cute Cakes

Tuesday, October 12, 2010

Elizabeth and I are so excited to kick off our Tuesday morning by talking about the sweetest of sweets -- the piece de resistance -- the baby shower cake. :) We laugh as we type that, but when you think about it there are few celebrations where the cake doesn't have to share the spotlight with too many other party details -- birthday parties, whimsical weddings, and (you guessed it) baby showers! Now we realize our opinions are probably swayed by our sweet tooth, but we've always thought if you're going to throw a party where the sweets are one of the highlights, why settle on just one cake? Go all out and have two -- or three -- yes, definitely three! And, maybe make one of them chocolate, vanilla, strawberry, or lemon. (This is where your imagination and Martha Stewart skills can really run wild!) So, to help inspire you on your confectionary visions we dug up some photos that the lovely Melody from the Sweet and Saucy Shop sent us a few weeks ago -- and, WOW, these little cakes she made are going to melt. your. heart. Fun, cute, and perfectly sweet -- this is how you do baby shower cakes. We promise ... you won't be able to help yourself, you'll just have to crack a smile. I know we did :)
