Real Baby Shower: California Cool Picnic

Wednesday, September 22, 2010

Elizabeth and I love (I mean L-O-V-E) an over-the-top baby shower or celebration -- the more flowers, ribbons, lace, balloons, and sweet details, the better! But, we have to admit to having a soft spot in our heart for just some good old fashion back yard celebrations that are all about good food, friends, and having a fun time. And, that's exactly what shines through in these photographs that Chenin from Boutwell Studio took at Candice and Mark Brooke's baby shower. The outdoor venue is the perfect end-of-summer-backdrop, and the details they included in the celebration add just the right amount of splash of color to the lush green scenery. There's no other way to say it -- this shower just oozes California, laid-back-cool, and we want to -- no, wait, need to be there sitting on that lawn sipping on some Izze's with them! But, it looks like we'll just have to settle with being able to pour over Chenin's beautiful photographs of the event.

From Chenin... My good friends, Candice and Mark Brooke, are expecting a baby boy, named Wyatt, any day now and I was lucky enough to co-host a baby shower for them this past weekend.

We decided to go with a casual and outdoorsy picnic feel for the party, so we chose a nice outdoor location with lots of open space for mingling and lounging around. A few of the details included: a gourmet soda station, candy & cupcakes, games, gifts & more crafts.

To Candice and Mark: Congratulations! I could not be happier for you both! It has been a blast to share our pregnancies and I can't wait to watch our boys grow up together! We love you guys!

Just wanted to say how much I love this site. We don't go in for baby showers much in the UK but I will definitely using in for insipiration for my baby's christening parties. Keep up the good work, all the showers featured so far have been beautiful.
