Baby Shower Idea: All Aboard

Tuesday, September 21, 2010

Have you ever noticed how fascinated little boys are with trains? Elizabeth's son plays with his toy trains all. the. time. And, then come bedtime -- he takes them to bed with him. It doesn't seem quite as comfortable as a teddy bear, but maybe there's just something magical about trains and little boys. Which got us thinking -- wouldn't trains be an AMAZING baby shower theme for a Mom who's expecting a little boy? Turns out  Sweets Indeed was reading our minds in a big way when they sent us some photographs of a recent celebration they put together. Um, can we just begin by saying, holy AMAZING-NESS?! Sweets Indeed's spread is so fun, and Elizabeth and I love that they used vintage trains -- not to mention the color palette they chose will work oh-so-well as fall continues to roll in. We think that even if you don't want to use this theme for your upcoming baby shower, you will still become smitten with the sweet details that where captured by the very talented photographer Shannon from The Pixel Studio -- so, scroll on down to see what we are talking about!

From Sweets Indeed... On Saturday we put together a little train themed sweet station. My partner [at Sweets Indeed has a son who] is 4. He is a cutie patutie and is truly obsessed with trains. If he hears the word “train” or anything related, he comes running. ... we knew we didn’t want it to be your typical bright “Thomas” themed colors, [so] we decided to center it around some vintage paper and use the wooden fence as a natural backdrop.

We made chocolate chip cake pops (a huge favorite), vanilla cupcakes, and puffed rice treats on sticks. Inspired by Pizzazzerie’s cupcake skewers, we added baking cups under our puffed rice treats and LOVED the functionality of it. It’s the perfect crumb catcher!  [And], the mini train whistles, Chugga Chews and beautiful fruit display were among my personal favorites.

How cool is this!? I worked on and designed the scrapbook paper for this Lionel line! So cool to see it used in different ways!
