Real Baby Shower: Baby Blue Elephants

Friday, October 8, 2010

Elizabeth can attest that deep down inside I am a complete girly girl. Pink and purple? Oh my gosh -- my favorite colors (just like Grandma)! And, Barbie? Loved her (and Skipper too)! I always tell Elizabeth that I wouldn't know what to do if I had a son (which pretty much guarantees I'll have one some day, right?!) What can I say -- blue just doesn't seem to tickle my fancy the way a good pastel pink, dusty rose, or lilac does. BUT, when I saw this baby boy shower that Sarah Thompson from Style Me Gorgeous put together it was love at first sight -- and I fell hard. Like any good whirlwind romance, things are a little blurry. Was there the most perfect color blue in this shower? Not too sure but I think there were some beyond adorable details. I'm telling you, dear readers, all I know for certain is that this party was just. so. darn. ca-ute! I don't want to give away the truly delicious surprises from today's baby shower, but I think it was the little elephants that first stole my heart -- or maybe the polka dots -- no, wait, definitely the elephants! It's just so hard to choose when Michelle-Leigh is behind the lens, capturing every gorgeous detail! But, Elizabeth and I hope you enjoy every minute of it!

From Sarah Thompson... I had decided on a baby elephant theme for the naming day before Max was born as this was the theme for his nursery. By adding teeny tiny polkadots and my cute Style Me Gorgeous birdies it was perfect 'cute' theme for my gorgeous baby boy. The soft colour palette was inspired by some gorgeous Martha Stewart paper lanterns that I found at a local craft store. The invitation, banner, lolly bag tags, cookie bag toppers, lolly jar labels and signs were designed by Style Me Gorgeous. The spotted lanterns and spotted cupcake cases are by Robert Gordon and the striped lanterns are by Martha Stewart. Ribbons, card board shapes (used for lolly jar tags), wooden letter 'M', blue paper bags, scrap-booking papers, wooden pegs, spotted fabric, and elephant cookie cutter are from the local craft store.
